inReach satellite communication
The Alpha 300i K adds inReach technology on the global Iridium network: send and receive messages, share your route, and trigger an interactive SOS to Garmin Response, the 24/7 emergency coordination centre. Pairs with the Garmin Messenger app, which switches automatically between Wi-Fi, mobile data and satellite. An active inReach subscription is required for satellite features.
Compatibility
Requires a compatible dog collar: Alpha T 20 K or K 5X. Also compatible with Alpha 200 K, Alpha 10 K, Atemos 100 and Atemos 50 handhelds.
Why the K version matters in Germany
Garmin builds its K models specifically for Germany and Europe. They use a licence-free radio frequency, so no local registration is needed. US models (Alpha 300, TT25, T20 without the K) use different frequencies and are not compatible with K devices.
